PrivyPIN screens the calls you don't answer so unknown callers have to enter a 3-digit code before your phone rings. To do that, we handle a small amount of information about you and the people who call you. This policy explains exactly what we collect, why, and the choices you have.
The short version: PrivyPIN collects only what it needs to screen your calls. We never upload your address book, never show ads, never use analytics or trackers, and never sell your data.
Information we collect
We collect only the information required to run the screening service:
- Your phone number — used as your account identity and to send the one-time codes that log you in.
- Callers' phone numbers — the numbers of people who call your line, so we can screen them and show you your call history.
- Contacts you choose — only the individual numbers you toggle onto your trusted list. We never upload, sync, or read your full address book.
- Voicemail recordings — audio left by callers who are invited to leave a message, so you can play it back in the app.
- Call metadata — for each screened call: the caller's number, the outcome (PIN passed, PIN failed, or voicemail), the time, and the duration.
- A notification token — a device token used solely to send you alerts about your own screened calls.
How we use your information
Everything we collect is used for one purpose: making PrivyPIN work for you. Specifically, we use it to:
- Screen incoming calls and ask unknown callers for your PIN.
- Let your trusted contacts ring straight through without a code.
- Record and deliver voicemails you can play inside the app.
- Show your recent call history and outcomes.
- Send you the one-time codes that sign you in, and notify you about screened calls.
- Keep your account secure.
What we never do
We built PrivyPIN to give you quiet, not to profile you. We do not:
- Show advertising, or share your information with advertisers.
- Use third-party analytics or tracking SDKs.
- Sell, rent, or trade your data with data brokers — ever.
- Track you across other apps or websites.
- Collect your location, browsing history, or advertising identifiers.
- Listen to, record, or transcribe your actual conversations.
Your contacts stay private
When you open the Contacts tab, PrivyPIN can read your device contacts so you can pick who to trust — but that happens entirely on your phone. Only the individual numbers you switch on are ever sent to us. The rest of your address book is never uploaded, and turning on a contact one day never opts in the rest. You can remove any trusted number at any time.
Voicemail recordings
If a caller doesn't have your PIN, they're clearly invited to leave a message after the tone. Those recordings are stored so you can play them back in the app, and they're accessible only to you as the account owner. They are never shared or sold.
Service providers
PrivyPIN relies on a small number of trusted providers to operate:
- Our telephony provider (Twilio) carries the calls, plays the PIN prompt, and records voicemail on our behalf. Recordings are streamed to you through our servers and are never exposed publicly.
- Apple processes your subscription through the App Store; we never see your full payment details.
- Your mobile carrier forwards your unanswered calls to your screening line using its standard call-forwarding feature.
How long we keep your data
We keep your account information and call history for as long as your account is active so the app remains useful to you. You can delete individual trusted contacts and call records in the app. When you delete your account, we remove your account data, trusted list, call history, and voicemail recordings.
Your rights and choices
- Remove trusted contacts individually, at any time, from the Contacts tab.
- Pause screening from Settings so all forwarded calls ring through without a PIN.
- Delete your account and data from within the app, or by emailing us at the address below. We'll confirm deletion.
Security
Your PIN is stored only as a salted, hashed value — never in plain text, and never shown in any log. All traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted over HTTPS, and your login session is stored securely on your device. Voicemail links from our telephony provider are never sent to the app; recordings are proxied through an authenticated request instead.
Children's privacy
PrivyPIN is rated 4+ but is intended for adults managing their own phone line. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Availability
PrivyPIN's carrier setup relies on U.S. conditional call-forwarding codes, so the service is offered in the United States. If you use the app from elsewhere, you consent to your information being processed in the United States.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continuing to use PrivyPIN after a change means you accept the updated policy.
